U.S. SENATE ā U.S. Senator Martha McSally from Arizona this week cleared a path for more employers to participate in the Department of Defenseās (DoD) SkillBridge program that is connecting servicemembers with real-world job experiences.

āAs our service members transition out of uniform, we have to make sure there are ample employment opportunities,ā McSally said. āWhen I heard from businesses in Arizona about their concerns with the SkillBridge program, I acted on it by introducing an amendment to this yearās annual defense bill. Companies across the country now have the clarity they need to participate in the SkillBridge program that provides critical hands-on job training. Itās great to see DOL help solve the issue so that more companies can hire more veterans.ā
McSally introduced an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act this year to expand the SkillBridge program. In conjunction with her amendment, the Department of Labor issued an opinion stating that SkillBridge participants will not be subject to wage and labor laws.

Each year, around 200,000 members of our U.S. Armed Forces will reenter the workforce or pursue higher education. The DoD SkillBridge program allows active-duty service members to participate in training and development with employers during the last 180 days of their service.
On October 8, McSally celebrated the opening of cybersecurity company, and SkillBridge industry partner, Acronis SCSās new Scottsdale Headquarters and the launch of their Vets Initiative.
